Received a DRACAENA plant?

live in zone 7 pacific northwest. How will I be able to keep it alive and enjoy it?

Received a DRACAENA plant?
Dracaenas are a varied species, but in general the ones with canes need to dry out a bit before watering, need bright indirect light. The roots can be temperamental so be careful watering. If the plant gets too tall you can cut it back and root the top. I have success just cutting the top and sticking it back in the soil, watering liberally. Watch for spider mites (plant will yellow, leaves will feel dirty, webs) wash them off. Mealy bug can be a problem too. They need temperatures above 55 so they aren't hardy outside. Find out what kind you have and then you can tailor the care to the plant.
Reply:just don't let it freeze. they are very easy to grow -- lucky bamboo that everyone sticks in rocks is actaully not a bamboo but dracaena. they adapt well to indoor conditions better than most. just keep it watered and give it a spot with a lot of indirect light.
